  • many climates (from temperate climate to polar climate)
  • most of Canada is determined by a boreal climate (long, very cold winters and short, very hot summers)
  • it´s getting colder in the north
  • southern regions are the warmest places -> that´s where most people live (Ontario is a Canadian California)

  • more than a half of all forests are primeval forests
  • animals: whales, walruses, seals, polar bears, polar wolves, musk oxen

  • after the seven years´war: Quebec became English territory
  • 1784: borders between Canada and the United States were established
  • Canadian legislative was introduced
  • 1840: country became the province of Canada with a parliamentary government (capital: Ottawa)
  • 1867: Dominion of Canada (Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick)
  • the Constitution Act was the first constitution of Canada
  • for a long time: Canada was still part of the British Commonwealth of Nations
  • completely independent in 1982
