Inclusive School Practices- Why?

When we can become inclusive in our schools, we are putting forward our best support for students to learn in. Students learn the idea of diversity, patience, and tolearnce.

Why do we have inclusive practices?

Monday

Monday, December 5th

  • We will have each classroom read two grade level books on inclusitivity
  • Then particpate in an activity that shows how everyone is the same and how they are different.
  • Show a school made video by the teachers to explain what Inclusive schools week is

Tuesday

Tuesday, December 6

  • On Tuesday, we will be showcasing how to support diversity within our school.
  • To do that, we will have a guest speaker come in via zoom and read the book: The Skin You Live In by: Michael J. Tyler
  • Afterward, the children will get to find a pieace of cardstock that matches their skin color, and create a self portrait .
  • We will display the children's self-portraits throughout the hallways of the school.

Diversity flower and character traits

  • There will be a bulletin board with an unfinished flower and flower petals
  • people will take a petal or two and write something that is unique about themselves
