Get Ready: Members of the US Supreme Court are APPOINTED by the president. They are not elected by the people. Once confirmed, they cannot be easily removed, and there is no end to the term. Traditionally, judges have either retired or died in office.

Why or why not?
The Supreme Court and the Bill of Rights
American government consists of three branches. The Executive branch executes the law, the Legislative branch makes the law, but the judicial branch INTERPRETS laws.
They do this via a process called "Judicial Review."
Is this too much power for the SCOTUS? Why or why not?
This power was established in Marbury v. Madison.
Let's start with the 2nd Amendment:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Can we REPEAL the 2nd Amendment?
Should we?

The Supreme Court's Chambers
The Court holds oral argument in about 70-80 cases each year. The arguments are an opportunity for the Justices to ask questions directly of the attorneys representing the parties to the case, and for the attorneys to highlight arguments that they view as particularly important. Arguments are generally scheduled on specified Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings beginning on the first Monday in October, and continuing through the end of April.
