Arliss secretly adopted old Yeller and no one knew. After a series of adventures involving raccoons, snakes, bears, wild hogs and wolves, Travis grows to love and respect Old Yeller. Old Yeller actually saved Travis, Arliss, Mama, and Lisbeth. Old Yeller helps Travis defend a cornfield, break a heifer, and mark hogs.
