Flora

Colombia currently has 45,000 plant species and has 45% of the South American paramos. Along the Caribbean coast mangroves and coconut trees grow, and 51 million intermediate elevations are covered by forests, where commercially profitable trees such as mahogany, oak, walnut, cedar, pine and some varieties of balsam are found. . Tropical plants also produce rubber, vanilla, sarsaparilla, ginger, copal gum, ipecac, tonca bean, and beaver bean.

Fauna

Fauna and Flora

The fauna in Colombia is very varied. Among the wild animals are the largest mammals in South America, tales such as: jaguar, cougar, tapir, peccary, anteater, sloth, armadillo and various species of monkeys and deer. Lizards, which long ago abounded along the main rivers, have been hunted intensively, so now they are very scarce. Many varieties of snakes inhabit tropical regions. Among the birds we can find up to 1800, one of them are the condor, vulture, toucan, parrot, cockatoo, crane, stork and hummingbird.
