How did amibae originate?
- Jada had a male friend she was very close to but was not in a relationship with, didn't plan on being in a relationship with him but he understands her deeper than a freind or best friend can.
- Amibae originated from the latin root of amigo in spanish which is "ami" meaning friend. The word bae means in today's language deep connection, or someone calls
In the Netflix show All american, Spencer and Olivia are each other's amibae in season 2. They were there for one another, and they're not just friends they have a deeper connection to their relationship. They understand one another deeper than their other friends do.
Meredith and Christina grown to be one another's amibae. With their friendship, they are each other's go through person. Only they understand each other, and they're the only one's they talk to when things get rough for them. They're closer than any of the other doctor's and they help each other emotionally since both of them have trouble expressing their feelings, they have a relationship only they understand. Closer than a friendship, deeper than a relationship
Why a story?
I posted a story because a lot of my friends on these social media platforms scroll through stories rather than posts as it's easier and faster. People also resonate more when they can see words into pictures which is why it caused more of a good reaction than the poll or doc
By having more hash tags, an image, and a text in my stories gave more of a positive effect because people connected the dots since some people may realize that their “best friend” is their amibae and they didn’t even know because that bond was deeper than a friendship
- The stories for #amibae were all posted around 4 pm on November 9th to get the maximum views possible, at a time where most individual's would be just getting off of work, or leaving class.
- Having a picture to go along with the caption and hash tag made it easier to understand what the hash tag was referring to. The image made it very persuasive to understand which gave the good feedback that was received from the post.
- Overall 22 individuals answered the google form and there are more yes and maybe answers on the two last questions than the first question.
- The question's were asking more of what the word mean's than asking or mentioning the word in the question.
- We feel that we received more “yes” and “maybe” answers to the last two questions because we did not incorporate the word “amibae.” People are more likely to go along with things that they are more familiar with and because they were not familiar with our word, they rejected it.
A Theory;
- Perhaps, the word being in the question through everyone answering the questions in the google form off so they're more so answering because of the word and not the question
- The google form link was posted on Snap chat and Instagram on November 22nd at 8:54 p.m which could have effected the results because it was a Monday night and it being a school night for some people. We may have gotten more responses if it was either earlier in the day or on the weekend.

- The polls got more no answers than yes answers and overall for each poll there were over 200 people viewing.
- More reactions from college student's was wanted, because that is the most following.
- In the first poll the background picture was of my computer with the poll and question over it. For the second poll background it was a blank black screen.
- The way the picture was set up with the poll and the question may have threw individual's off.
- In the first poll, the background had nothing to do with the question so people may have been trying to connect the background with the question which caused them them to try and figure out what an amibae actually is

- I chose an Instagram poll on my Instagram story because that's the biggest platform for how I communicate with people.
- When I randomly post I tend to get a lot of feedback and I felt posting on my Instagram story would get me more feedback especially with the poll.
- I think the four people that wanted to know what the word meant read the question and was curious on the word they've never seen before.
- The first poll was made on November 8th, 2021 which was a Monday and 9:17 p.m which is probably why only 14 people voted on the poll, and it being so late on a Monday night could have effected the amount of votes we got opposed to the amount of views, with only one response asking what the word means.
- The second poll was made November 14th, 12:07 p.m which was a Sunday afternoon and we got 18 votes that day. So posting on the weekend got us 4 more votes on the poll that day and two individuals messaged me asking me what the word means acknowledging the word in the post.
- A casual conversation was happening with two of my friends from back home that I haven't talked to in a while.I talked to both of them on separate day's and they both asked me what is the word I keep posting on my story.
- These two casual phone calls had unexpected question's about my story and why I kept posting the word amibae, which caused me to think...
- Even though some people are not voting on the poll they can still be curious on what amibae means, because they're still reading and watching the story.
- Overall, the unfamiliarity with the word caused people to reject it because humans have something in their brain known as plasticity. This changes overtime and allows people to open up to new things. It takes a couple times for a person to become familiar with something new before they can accept it. If more people were to use the word and spread it around to their peers, it most likely would have had a different outcome.
- It's harder to create a word that we think, and even attempting to create a new word was very fun
Our Theory;
Let's think?
- Do you understand what amibae means?
- Do you have an amibae?
- Have you ever thought that a word like amibae was needed?
- What if we were to reach out to a celebrity, and the celebrity used the word?
- Or word probably would have got more credibility than it got with just us posting it because celebrities have a bigger following platform
