What Happened in the Haitian Revolution?

In August 1791 an organized slave rebellion broke out, The Haitian Revolution is the only successful slave revolt in history and resulted in the establishment of Haiti, the first independent black state in the New World.

Where did it occur and When did it happen?

It occurred in Haiti and Saint-Domingue

and it happened from 1791-1804.

It happened because of the brutality of the slave owners and

inspiration from the French Revolution.

Toussaint Louverture(a Haitian general and leader of the Haitian Revolution. Toussaint Louverture is thought to have been born enslaved around 1739–1746 on the plantation of Bréda at Haut de Cap on the northern coast of Saint-Domingue, present day Haiti.), Jean-Jacques Dessalines, Charles Leclerc, Henry Chrisophe, Haitian slaves, colonists, the armies of the British and French colonizers and a number of other parties was involved. It impacted their current state because when they became independent they suffered an economic decline and left Haiti mired in poverty.
