조시는 서아시아, 시에라리온 세라부 미션병원의 평화봉사단 간호사였습니다

"어떻게?" 조시가 대답했습니다.

"마녀라고 생각해요! 마녀가 보이지 않게 날아다니면서 저녁에 사람들의 등을 문다고 생각해요!"

조시는 나중에 말습니다. "그 때, 저는 학생들이 내가 말한 것을 전혀 이해하지 못했다고 생각했습니다. 그들은 진짜로 마녀가 그렇게 했다고 믿고 있었습니다"

"미생물은 백인들이 믿고 있었을 뿐입니다."

Josie saw the world scientifically. The student viewed the world spiritually. They interpreted the same situation completely differently.

Josie was a Peace Corps nurse at the Serabu Mission Hospital in Sierra Leone, West Africa.

She taught a course in microbiology. All of the students passed their examination.

Afterwards, one student said "Miss, I know that you taught us about polio,

but do you want to know how people really get it?"

"How?" Josie replied.

"It's the witches! They are invisible and they fly around at night and bite peoples backs!"

Josie said later, "At that moment, I realized that the students thought

I didn't know what I was talking about. They had been taught that witches were real.

Microorganisms were what white people believed in."

The main cause and solution to poverty is

Most poverty strategies focus on

consequences and technology.
