Move Forward

“The best thing you can do is the right thing; the next best thing you can do is the wrong thing; the worst thing you can do is nothing.”

– Theodore Roosevelt

One Minute of Light

1 Nephi 4:6

And I was led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do.

Scripture

Liberty in Law

It would have been a truth, if Mr. Locke had not said it, that where there is no law, there can be no liberty, and nothing deserves the name of law but that which is certain, and universal in its operations upon all the members of the community.

--Dr. Benjamin Rush

Inspiration comes in funny packages.

The Constitution is often not very pretty.

Keep Going

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan Press On! has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”

― Calvin Coolidge

Moment of Light

3 Nephi 28:20

"And they were cast down into the earth; but they did smite the earth with the word of God, insomuch that by his power they were delivered out of the depths of the earth; and therefore they could not dig pits sufficient to hold them."

Scripture

Power

Quotation

I think there are a lot of people who don't understand the power of the word of God fully and I love how this verse gives a better understanding of it. The word of God can be the crutch for someone weak and tired, it can heal the wounded and sick, and it can deliver out of the depths of the earth, conquering any evil in its path. It would be so cool if we could really understand it and learn to apply it in our lives. We could work wonders.

God and Goodness

“The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us.”

― C.S. Lewis

One Minute of Light

Moroni 7:48

Scripture

48 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be purified even as he is pure. Amen.

Onward, Christian Soldiers

Quotation

My beloved brothers and sisters, Christianity is comforting, but it is often not comfortable. The path to holiness and happiness here and hereafter is a long and sometimes rocky one. It takes time and tenacity to walk it.

Our Holidays

First, Alaina Hall is magnificent. Take a moment and breathe in all that awesome.

Today's Holiday (Thanks, Alaina)

Second, this is National Snack Food Month. Also National Children's Dental Health Month. I think someone didn't think this through.

Third, this is Sleep Awareness Week. Are you aware of this thing called sleep?

And finally, appropriately enough, this is Absolutely Incredible Kid Day.

Also Awkward Moments Day. Make of that what you will.

Be Aware

One Minute of Light

“I think it ticks God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don't notice it.”

― Alice Walker, The Color Purple

Moroni 10: 6-7

6 And whatsoever thing is good is just and true; wherefore, nothing that is good denieth the Christ, but acknowledgeth that he is.

7 And ye may know that he is, by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore I would exhort you that ye deny not the power of God; for he worketh by power, according to the faith of the children of men, the same today and tomorrow, and forever.

Scripture

Learn, people.

The preservation of the means of knowledge among the lowest ranks is of more importance to the public than all the property of all the rich men in the country.

--John Adams
