Between 1901 and 1904 when he painted essentially monochromatic paintings in shades of blue and blue-green, only occasionally warmed by other colors.
Picasso began painting in blue after the suicide of his friend, painter Carlos Casagemas, whom he had been very close to.
The subjects of the blue paintings are down trodden outcasts such as beggars and street performers, people in sorrow, and solitary figures.

Choose any color from the color wheel.
Draw the Still Life on your paper, and map out the VALUES
Begin painting mixing and painting each object using your chosen color in the appropriate values.
Apply paint using blending techniques.
Target: Utilize knowledge of mixing hues, tints, tones, and shades to create a monochromatic still life that shows the illusion of 3D space.
