Black Tom explosion

In 1916 German agents exploded munitions depot in the New York Harbor that were going to be used in the war. The explosions destoyed Black Tom island and damaged Lady Liberty's arm.

As a result of this sabotage, you cannot climb to the torch anymore.

Mount Rushmore is a American national memorial. It is a carved stone monument. There are 4 Presidents faces on the monument. They are: Presidents Roosevelt, Lincoln, Jefferson and Washington

The Monument took 14 years to complete

The man who built it was a Ku Klux Klan member and the land was stolen from the Soiux Tribe

Three US Presidents have stayed at the Mount Washington Hotel.

The Mount Washington Hotel was $1.7 million (approximately $55.4 million today) to buld.

the meeting that changed the world

in 1944, the hotel had a historic meeting. It was called The Bretton Woods Conference. It was a meeting of Allied nations that helped establish what the world would look like after World War II.

730 delegates were there but not Soviet Union.
