Frankenstein One-Pager

AP LIT WEEK ONE Q4 ASSIGNMENT

“You are my creator, but I am your master”

Suggests that although Victor had created the creature, that the creature has more control over Victor than should be possible. Victor is controlled or persuaded by the creature from the beginning of it’s creation to the day that Victor dies.

Quote #1

"I will be with you on your wedding night”

Quote #2

The creature says exactly what he means, but displays Victor's true colors when he’s only concerned for his own life and doesn’t even think that the creature might stick with his previous incentives to kill all of Viictor’s loved ones, to make him feel the loneliness that the creature feels everyday.

Connection

The story relates a message that life is not inherently evil or bad, it is made that way by the treatment and language of society. Frankenstein’s creature begins as an innocent being that saves little kids from drowning, stays up all night to collect firewood for busy cottagers and wants to learn. But after being shunned from his frightful appearance and mistreated for nothing he turns to evil because that’s all he has ever been shown. Which is similar to humans, no one is born thinking that food makes you fat, people grow up with society telling them that.
