What is the Magna Carta of Women?

  • a comprehensive women's human rights law anchored on the UN CEDAW.
  • it aims to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women by recognizing, protecting, fulfilling and promoting the rights of Filipino women especially those in the marginalized sectors.

Chapter III : Duties and Responsibilities to the Human Rights of Women

The State, the private sector, society in general, and all individuals shall contribute to the recognition, respect and promotion of the rights of women defined and guaranteed in the Magna Carta of Women.

Chapter IV: Rights and Empowerment

Sec 18. Special Leave Benefits for Women

Female employees in public and private sector whho undergo surgery cuased by gynecological disorders shall be entitled to:

  • 2 months special leave with pay (noncomulative and non-convertible to cash)
  • if extended leave is needed, earned credits may be used.

*Republic Act 11210 or 105-day Expanded Maternity Leave Law

Sec 19. Equal Rights in All Matters Relating to Marriage and Family Relations
