North Korea invades South Korea

  • North Korea was supported by China and the Soviet Union while South Korea was supported by the United Nations, principally the United States.

  • Chinese People’s Liberation Army began to cross the border to assist their North Korean ally.
  • Their numbers grew to around 300,000 by early November.
