Significance and Beginning of Summary

The Battles of Saratoga are important because the Americans victory proved that they actually had a chance at winning the war and also helped them gain forien allies such as France. Generals at the Battle were Major General John Burgoyne on the British side, Major General Horatio Gates and Brigadier Benedict Arnold commanded the American army. After capturing Fort Ticonderoga, Gates retreated north to the village of Saratoga with his 5,000 surviving troops. Because he was overconfident, he accidentally gave the colonists time to regroup, therefore, getting them surrounded and forcing him to surrender on October 13.

So in conclusion, the The Battle Of Saratoga was a victory to the Americans over the British in the American Revolutionary War. It marked the climax of the Saratoga campaign, which was a attempt by the British for North America to gain military control of the Hudson River vally during the war.
