My understanding of Turangawaewae

POU 1

My understanding of Turangawaewae

Turangawaewae in maori tradition means a place where you were born and raised which in English it means “a place to stand”. It means coming together for a “Reunion”. It is like searching for your identity, for your hapu.

Turangawaewae is also in some peoples pepeha, e.g. Mountain, River, Marae, Town or city. It's also being familiar with your home base, which is where you live.

In Maori religion turangawaewae is to remember the memories you had when you were little or when you were bought up. It also gives you the mana you had when you were little. You also get self confidence and POWER that you develop over time.
