The students showed during the pre-assessment some prior knowledge on the topic of governments in Greece. Some of the students did say they recalled hearing about these governments in past years. This led me to expand more into the pre-assessment test.
After I looked at the pre-assessment, I looked at the answers that were missed more frequently and made sure to talk about those the most in the lesson. During the lesson I would go around and check on the students who missed the most questions to help ensure they were understanding what was going on in the lesson. I think this helped the students because they seemed to add the most to their scores. From the data collected on the post assessment, I saw growth from all students and even greater growth from those who did not perform the best on the pre-assessment. All the students saw growth on the topic with some students showing a mastery of the types of governments in Greece.
