Chapter 1-10 summary The Giver

Chapter 1

Jonas, feels a deep feeling of being frighten .Both his parents were working and Lily was at the child care center. Jonas was out taking a bike ride with his friend Asher. Later Jonas' fammily were haveing dinner and they had a tradition for one person to explain how they felt . Jonas' feelings were to complicated. Jonas' parents have a private talk with Jonas.

Chapter 2

Jonas' parents have a talk with him. He talks about how December is exciting. Jonas explains how he likes naming. Jonas' father had broken a rule. He had named the child Gabriel but they call him Gabe. Jonas' parents told him not to worry about it untill the ceromony of twelves.

Chapter 3

In the beigning of the chapter Lilly explains how cute Gabreil is and then mentions how they both have funny eyes. The baby had pale eyes like his own. Most of the citezens had dark eyes Lilly,Parents,and all his friends.No one had talked about it. it was'nt a rule it was just that it was considerd rude to mention diffrences about eachother. Jonas later finds something strange about an apple

Chapter 4

Jonas, is riding his bike to leisure toweres .He was going to spend his volesnteer hours with a friend. Jonas rides past the community structers, thinking he would find Asher but ended up not being abel to find him. Finnaly he finds it. Asher and Fiona are already there at the bathing center.Jonas helps bath a blind lady.

Chapter 5

Mostly in the mornings family members would tell eachcother about the dreams that they had. Jonas usualy didn't contribute but today was diffrent. He had such a vivid dream last night.Meanwhile Lilly was eplaining her dream he dreamed about how he was pushing fiona into the tub so he could wasssh her

Chapter 6

I this chapter The Ceromony Of Twelve was about to happen. Befor the ceromnoy of twelve happened we learnd the how the cromony worked. Lucy was becomig a nine, jonas was becomig a twelve, and the new born was in the back being cared for. Also in this chapter they told us that the elders chose who gets to be husand and wife, and who can start a family.

Chapter 7

When the ceromony began the anouncer rercodnized their differences then stared giving asiginments. When the anouncer got to Jonas's number they skiped over his number and the crowed went silent. Joanas sat in he seat thinking about what he could have done wrong.

It was in the middle of the ceromony and turns out he wasn't assigned anything because he was actually selected,

which was pretty cool.

The lady said that there

would also be pain

aloung the way.

The whole town would be counting on them.

Chapter 9

After Jonas was assigined reciver he looked over his rules for his job and was very suprised.

The resons Joanas was suprised was because he was instructer he could lie, he could be rude and, he could make people get released. Apon reding the rules Jonas was very desrot and cofused wwith those ruls, not wanting to belive them.

Chapter 10

Joanas walked in the room then him and the old reciever had a conversation. After they had a conversation jonas layed on his stomac and the old reciver traspoted a few pleasant memorys to him. After the pleasant memorys he gave a unpleant memory. At the end the old reciver told him he was the giver.
