CFA Workshop: IPOS

Why it's important

IPOS is the position that can help avoid the most problems and sets the tone for how long an order takes from start to finish.

Repeating orders and asking clarifying questions ensures orders are correct and reduces the amount of time guests spend in line.

Set Up

  • IPad
  • Card Reader
  • Battery
  • Cord

  • Ice Pack (summer)
  • Jacket (based on weather)
  • Water

Under IPad settings, make sure it is connected to the ISPOTA wifi and NOT the Chick-fil-A wifi.

Wifi

Repeat this process if the card reader is not responding while taking payment.

Card Reader

  • Open the "scan" function on the IPad

  • Hold the power button to turn on the card reader

  • Press F1 on the card reader to get the QR code

  • Scan the code with the IPad

  • Wait for "ALL SET" message on IPad

  • Go to "Other Functions" and register the payment terminal

Entrees/Meals

Entree/Meals Section

Yellow items are meals and automatically come with a medium waffle fry and medium beverage (excuding water, and specialty drinks are an upcharge).

Blue items are entrees, meaning they do not come with fries or a drink.

Red items are kids meals: 5ct nugget, 5ct grilled nugget, or 2ct strip. Each automatically come with a small waffle fry and small beverage.

Green items are salads: Cobb, Spicy Southwest, Grilled Market, and Side Salad. These are not available as a meal option. (Lemon Kale Salad is seasonal and is not available at this time)

For convenience, small, medium, and large fry buttons and a drink shortcut are available at the bottom of the page.

Sides

Sides Section

Filets are offered for people who simply want a piece of chicken, or as an addition to a salad.

Chicken Soup and Seasonal Tortilla Soup: cup = 8oz, bowl = 16oz.

Parfaits: Cookie Parfaits come with Oreo Cookie crumbs on top while Granola Parfaits come with a side package of granola.

Small, medium, and large fries.

Small and large Kale Crunch Sides.

Fruit cups: small = 4oz, medium = 5oz

Mac and Cheese: small = 4oz, medium = 8oz, large = 16oz.

Side salads come with 2 free dressings. Be sure to use the "no dressing" button if the guest would not like one.

Apple sauce and bags of Waffle Potato Chips are also available sides.

Beverage

Beverages Section

Small, medium, and large Coke Products, Sweet/Unsweet Teas, Lemonade, Diet Lemonade, and Sunjoy.

One size bottled Water, Orange Juice, Apple Juice, Milk, Chocolate Milk, Iced Coffee, and Hot Coffee.

Sunjoy: Any combination of Tea and Lemonade

Iced Coffee: Original, Vanilla, and Mocha are all automatically made with cream and sugar. If the guest requests a deletion of one or both, highlight the iced coffee and add an open comment with their request.

Hot Coffee: "Would you like cream and sugar in it or on the side?" and "How many would you like?"

Gallon beverages: Lemonade, Diet Lemonade, Sweet Tea, Unsweet Tea, and all Sunjoy combinations.

Cup of Ice and cups of water are available in small, medium, and large. If guest is not making a purchase, additionally ring in a "cup of ice W/O purchase" from the Local Item section.

Beverage Condiments:

No ice, Light Ice, Extra Ice, Splenda, Sugar, Sliced Lemon, Creamer, and Vanilla Creamer.

Add to Bag: If the guest would not like the condiment in their beverage (e.g. creamer or sugar on the side)

Split: Half and half drinks (e.g. half Lemonade and Hi-C). Additionally, highlight the beverage and open comment the other beverage to split with.

Senior Drinks: Free small, .25 medium, .50 large (promo free beverage and use the medium and large senior upgrade charge in the local items section).

*excluding milkshakes, iced coffee and frosted beverages, senior must be present, one per person, a purchase must also be made, and senior drinks must not be rung up in a meal (ring in the entree, side, and beverage separately).*

Condiments

Condiments Section

+ adds condiments to an items

- removes condiment from an item

(if an error message appears, that condiment is not available for that item)

American Cheese, Colby Jack Cheese, and Pepper Jack Cheese. Tomato, Lettuce, Butter, Pickles, Side of Pickles, and Bacon.

Regular Bun, Multigrain Bun, and Gluten-Free Bun.

To change the type of bread on an item, first subtract the original bread then add the requested bread.

Sauces

Sauces: Chick-fil-A Sauce, Polynesian, Honey Mustard, Ranch, BBQ, Zesty Buffalo, and Sweet and Spicy Sriracha. (8oz Bottled sauces available for $2.50 in each flavor except Buffalo and Sriracha)

entree = 1 sauce

meal = 2 sauces

*if the guest requests more sauces do your best to accommodate them reasonably. Don't forget to offer an 8oz sauce!

"No Cdmt" or "No Sauce" = you have asked, and the guest says none

Open Comment: Highlight the item that needs a note first, press open comment, then type note.

e.g. Lettuce and Tomato on the side (do not remove these condiments from the sandwich, just add the note).

e.g. Change gloves or gluten allergy

Red Flag: to add a note not pertaining to a specific item

e.g. Doordash for Amy C.

e.g. Catering for Karen

e.g. +bacon (in a separate bowl)

Salad Dressings:

Use the "no dressing" button if the guest would not like any.

If more than 2 dressings is requested for an item you must charge the guest for ">2 dressings" under local items.

Soup and Salad Extras: Subtract items from a salad (we do not add any ingredients to salads) and add extra Crackers, Granola, Almonds, or Roasted Red Bell Peppers to menu items.

Desserts

Desserts Section

Kids Icedream, Qt of Icedream, Icedream cone, 1ct cookie, 6ct cookie, and brownie.

One size Milkshakes in Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, and Cookies n' Cream (seasonal Peach and Peppermint Chocolate Chip).

One size Frosted Lemonade, Diet Lemonade, Strawberry Lemonade, Strawberry Diet Lemonade, or Coffee.

Use the + and - to add condiments such as strawberry and chocolate to milkshakes and icecream or to remove whipped cream and cherry from milkshakes.

If a guest would like a strawberry lemonade, ring them up for a regular lemonade and on this page + strawberry to it.

Premiums

Premium Section

If a guest requests to purchase an additional kids toy outside of the meal you will find that button here.

Add a guest's points to their app without scanning or type in a DOC card number by pressing the digital offer entry button and typing in their phone number. **This will not always work if their phone number is not attached to their account.

This is another place to find Gallons and 8oz sauces

The only place to find bags of ice is in the beverages section of this page.

Local Items

Local Items Section

Used for ringing up specialty items and for communicating guests' special requests with the bagger and 2nd expo.

When a guest requests a gift card, use this button,

then open comment the amount they would like and DT Cash will complete it.

Store

Press this button to send the order to the kitchen when the guest is done ordering.

Make sure you have everything on the order by repeating the order to the guest becuase once you press this there is no going back!

Hold

Use this button to "hold" an order on your ipad so you can take the next order while you are waiting for another order taker in front of you to finish and store their order first.

OR

If you have multiple orders in the same car, hold orders until all have been taken so they can be stored at the same time.

Just like the Store button, you can't go back so repeat the order to the guest before holding!

Hold

Vehicle Description

This button is ESSENTIAL for order accuracy.

At the beginning of the order, enter an accurate car description, then your lane number, and the guest's name.

Names

??? is NOT an acceptable name

Popo is not an acceptable name for a police officer.

If you are unable to hear a guest's name or you cannot understand them, ask them to spell their name.

Manager Functions

Primarily used by Outside and DT Cash postions.

This is where you will find the "cancel transaction" button in case an order needs to be deleted. (manager pin is required)

Sign-out button for when putting the IPad away.

Discount Lookup: Police and firefighters on duty in official vehicles, open percent 10% for employees, and 50% for leaders. No discounts for military, teachers, medical professionals, EMS, off-duty officers, etc.

Nutrition button is used to find ingredients and nutrition information for every menu item.

Recall mobile order: highlight the correct order name, press recall, then go to vehicle description and add the lane number, then store the order by pressing store/recall.

If a mobile order is not found on the recall screen ask these questions:

Have they completed their order on the app?

Solution:

Have the guest open their app and ensure they have completed their order. Once they have, you can recall the order.

Could the order be under a different name?

Solution:

Recall the mobile order for the new correct name.

Did they place the order for drive-thru or pickup?

Solution:

If they placed a pickup order instead of drive-thru, radio inside and confirm the order is on their screen, then do a Red Flag > Open Comment "guest name".

Solution:

On the app have the guest go to Account > Transaction History and find today's order. Confirm that the location of the mobile order is for Washington Township Chick-fil-A. If the guest ordered at the wrong location, they can either go to that location, or they can cancel the order on their app and we can ring them up and charge them for their order again.

Highlight the item and then cancel it using this button.

Get Offers

After scanning a guests' app, use this button to apply all rewards to their order. (The item must be rung in on the IPad for it to be redeemed).

If a reward is on the app but is not taken off on the IPad, double check the item was rung in correctly, and if it is in a meal, ring the meal items in separately to redeem the reward.

Promo Free

Use this button APPROPRIATELY to take the price off a specific item.

e.g. a senior beverage or to encourage a guest by gifting them a cookie or brownie (with manager's approval)

Scan

Use this button to turn on the camera and scan a guest's app or DOC card or to scan your card reader when connecting.

If a guest is paying with their app, a "customer prepay" will appear at the bottom of the order and then you may store it.

App

Troubleshooting

  • If a guest has $0.00 on their app, but customer prepay still appears, highlight the prepay, cancel it, and take their other form of payment.

  • If there is not enough money on their app to pay for the entire order, you will have to send them to the outside cash person who will take their second form of payment.

DOCs (Digital Offer Card)

  • Usually a free item or a whole meal

  • Cannot be exchanged for another item

  • Will not be honored if expired

  • Paper coupons are no longer accepted by Chick-fil-A, please kindly explain to any guest with one that we will not be able to honor it.

Pay

After you have confirmed the order with the guest and they are ready to pay, press this button to pay with a credit card, gift card, or apple pay before storing the order.

Payment will have gone through when the total at the bottom of the screen says $0.00 and "customer prepay" is in green at the bottom of the order.

Any issues with payment send the guest to the Outside Cash person.

Credit and Debit Cards

Insert the card with the chip downwards facing the front of the card reader. If the card reader beeps continuously and says chip error, remove the card and try again. After a second time you may be asked to swipe the card instead.

If there is no chip then swipe the card with the strip facing the front of the card reader.

If the tap option is available it will have the ))) icon on the card. Touch the icon to the front of the card reader. If it beeps twice try again. It will only beep once if it works.

Credit/Debit Cards

Gift Cards

If a guest is paying with a gift card swipe the card with the strip facing towards the front of the card reader. If it does not cover the entire order it will ask if you would like to accept a partial amount; press yes then take the other form of payment (excluding an app payment).

Similar to the tap feature, have the guest hold their phone to the card reader screen. The card reader will beep once when payment is accepted.

*You are not to touch a guest's phone for any reason.

Fruit Allergy

Fruit substitutions are not allowed to be made. However, if a guest has an allergy to one of the fruits in the cup, a small fruit cup can be made with only 1 of the fruits.

Highlight the small fruit cup and use the open comment button to make note of this when needed.
