STUDY OF HUMAN RELATIONS
Sharing of subjective states by two or more individuals
in philosophy, subjective is defined as "relating to the way a person experiences something in his or her own mind"
in grammar, the term subjective connotes as "based on feelings or opinions rather than facts"
understanding intersubjectivity is important because experiencing "the other" will help shape your understanding of "self" as a person among other persons. Thus, intersujectivity impplies your relationship with other beings is of equal and unified state
1. we want to know what it takes to experience "other" as "the other
2. how the experience of "the other" may be needed for the development of self awareness
to contextualize "other" and "the other" is to use the terms human being (other) and a human person (the other).
your experience of the other is that of a subject, not an object; and that this experience is based on the oneness or unity you feel for each other.
intersubjectivity gives emphasis on shared cognition (thought, experiences, feelings, awareness, etc.) and consensus (unanimity, union, harmony) and that these are the essential elements that shape ideas and relations.
the term human being implies the entity is different, distant, an object outside of you. Whereas, a human person (the other), is essentially the same being (entity) as you, as one.
THE BASIS OF ONE'S INTERSUBJECTIVITY IS THE FACT THAT AS A HUMAN PERSON, HE/SHE IS NOT A SOLITARY SUBJECT WHO EXISTS BY HIMSELF/HERSELF IN THIS WORLD.
IT IS RECOGNIZED THAT THERE IS AN "OTHER" A "THOU" OR A "FELLOWMAN" WHO ALSO EXISTS IN THE WORLD
INTERSUBJECTIVITY CAN BE UNDERSTOOD EITHER AS A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TWO SUBJECTS, I AND THOU, WHERE THE THOU COULD BE A FELLOW MAN OR A SUPREME BEING; OR AS AN IMPERSONAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE INDIVIDUAL SUBJECT AND AN ANONYMOUS CROWD OR SOCIAL GROUP
is a person-to-person relation and is bound by personal or sbjective interests like those in friendhsip, parent, and child relationship, and marital relationship between husband and wife.
the relation is more intimate and it goes beyond simply sharing of resources or material things or of common social interests.
involves the interests such as those that exist in relations in the community, society, school, church and neighborhood. it is not as intimate as that in interpersonal dimension
