Disaster Strikes
What Joe and his friends don’t know is that each year, about 400,000 children age 14 and under are injured in bicycle related accidents.
Of those accidents, approximately 100,000 of them are head, brain, face and scalp injuries with 29% of them being fatal injuries.
Head Injuries
Bicycle helmets are 85-88% effective in preventing head injuries and fatalities from head injuries.
Preventing Injuries
Even though 70-80% of all fatal bike crashes involve head injuries, only 18% of bike riders wear helmets.
