Primary Source

"We have a very young population. More than 60% of the population is below the age of 30. A lot of them haven't been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria has been an oil-producing country, therefore they should sit and do nothing and get housing, healthcare, education free."

Changes Being Made

L

Changes

Essentially none. In 1962, Nigeria made their first developement plan, but they didn't enforce it or come up with ways to reduce population growth. Now, because of the masses of Nigerians that are either Roman Catholic or Muslim (and both groups heavily oppose contraceptives), doctors and politicians approach this topic gingerly, advertising 'birth spacing', adding a set amount of time between one child and the birth of another, not birth control.
