Why I Chose Him

I chose Martin Ganda because he has had an incredible life, even when he grew up in poverty. There has been so many ups and downs in his life, I wanted to know more.

About Martin Ganda

Martin Ganda grew up in Mature, Zimbabwe. He lived in Chisamba Singles, where two families share a room for one, where he would live with his Mother, Father, sister Lois, and the brothers Nation, Simba, and George. The education was very poor, but he still managed to get number one in his class every year. Four people shared a desk made for one and, even though the class was split in half, there were still around sixty kids in each half.

Early Successes

Early Successes

Even though Martin had been kicked out of school many times he had gotten nine A's out of nine tests on a national exam. He had not only gotten the highest score in his school, but in his entire region. Martin was encouraged to go to Martist Brothers, a private school, so he went there to visit and see how to apply. The first tuition his cousins payed and the second quarter Martin had received a full scholarship to Martist Brothers so he didn't need to pay.

Obstacle

Martin faced many obstacles in his life such as being kicked out of school because of fees, his father loosing his job so he couldn't support the family, and many more. Thankfully his pen pal Caitlin, in the U.S.A, sent him money secretly in the mail. This kept him in school and his family money. He also had an obstacle of getting to the U.S.A. Caitlin's mom sent tickets to him through FedEx. The tickets never arrived and hope seemed lost. Finally the tickets were found and he was sent to the U.S.A.
