Genre: Poetry and Nonfiction

During transcendentalism, poetry and nonfiction were mostly the types of writings that were being wrote. Poetry was used to help writers free style and feel free to write whatever they wanted without any judgment. Nonfiction was used to inform readers about all the factual events that happened during this era.

Major literary movements

The main literary movements that happened during this time period were romanticism, realism, and naturalism. Romanticism had an emphasis on individualism and many people lived alone, rather than living with society. During the naturalism era, everyone loved and worshiped the beauty of nature. They relied on nature to get through life everyday. Finally, realism showed society that we must fight for what is right, which is to fight for equality.
