Of Causes of the American Revolution

TIMELINE

Treaty of Paris

The term in this was to give land. This war made Britain get all of Canada and a lot of the United States. The Treaty of Paris ended the French and Indian War between France and Britain.

The Sugar Act

The Sugar act was a law that was created to get rid of the sugar trade that was illegal between the Spanish and the French. Tgus act made an affect on Boston and New England because Sugar was used a lot. This damaged the market for sugar growth in the colonies.

Stamp Act

The Stamp act was created to get the American colonists. This tax was huge in the time because stamps were used a lot. This meant placing a tax on newspapers, mail, anything made of paper. This was made to make more money in the colonies.

Quartering act

The quartering act was a law that was made in 1765. This law was made for the colonists to help make and provide supplies for the British in America. You had to provide food or with housing. The main goal of this act was to raise revenue from the British colonies in America.

Sons of liberty

The sons of liberty was a secret organization that threatened, or forced many merchants from getting British goods.

Declaratory Act

The Declaratory act the British parliament making up a declaration to control the colonists. They made new taxes. This was made to appeal the Stamp act and not get people mad.

Townshend Act

The townshend act was a law that was passed in 1763. The act was made to tax glass, paper, paint, lead and tea. The act made many people furious. The British wanted to get the colonies to pay for themselves.

Boston Massacre

The Boston massacre was a deadly riot that on King street. This was a riot between the British soldiers and the american colonists. The massacre quickly happened and the colonists tried to enforce the tax law like the other two.

Tea Act

The tea act was made to revive America. They made this law to try and make colonists happy because with this tax, it lowered the price of tea. This actually angered the colonists for imposing "taxation without representation."

Boston Tea Party

The Boston Tea party was a protest that happened because the American colonists were mad at Britain for imposing taxation. They protested by throwing a lot of tea into the harbor.

Battle of Lexington

The battle of Lexington and concord to initiate the revolutionary war between the colonists and the British. The British governor sent troops to stop the American colonists. The result of the war was the British retreating to Boston.

Declaration on Independence.

The declaration of independence was signed on July 4th, 1776. This sign declared that the colonists are now free and no longer part of the British empire.
