Classification Presentation
all organisms can be sorted into 5 kingdoms:
Animalia
Plantae
Fungi
Monera
Protista
the organism sea turtle is in the animalia kingdom
which means it is multicellular, has a nucleus and eats other organisms
The sea turtle is in the Chordata Phylum
All Animalia organisms can be sorted into 2 different groups of phylum:
Chordata and invertebrates
Characteristics
The sea turtle is part of the Phylum Chordata which means it has a backbone and a internal skeleton
The organism sea turtle belongs to the class reptilia
the groups in class are:
Mamalia
Aves
Pices
Reptilia
Amphibia
Characteristics
Characteristics of reptilia are:
The sea turtle belongs to the order testudines. The animals in this order are different species of turtles or tortises.
The Green Sea Turtle is part of the family Chelonioidea
Flatback sea turtles, loggerhead, sea turtles, hawksbills, and ridleys are all part of this Family as well as the green sea turtle.
Chelonia
There is two different populations of this turtle. It exists in tropical and sub tropical areas. The difference between the two is that one is nicknamed the black sea turtle because of the color of its shell. It's shell is that color because of where it lives (the Atlantic). The other green sea turtle is called the Pacific green turtle.

The turtles flippers helping them swim
it layer of green fat beneath the shell
The Green Sea Turtles scientific name is:
Chelonia mydas
Carl Linneaus was a Sweedish natralist, explorer and doctor. He is most famous for creating the system of classifing all living organisims. He created this system back in the 1700's and it still exists in biology today, although as more living organisms have been discovered more catagories have been added.
Facts about Carl Linneaus:
Born: 1707
Died:1778
He was first introduced to botany as a young boy in school.
To become a doctor he had to travel to complete his degree as they had higher teaching than in sweeden.
He travelled to the netherlands to become a doctor
