Using GG scores, learner will be able to accurately assess patients level of function with ADLs

Learner will be able to interpret scores within the Section GG standardized assessment

Dependent

Helper performs 100% of the task OR patient requires assistance from TWO helpers

Example: Patient requires two helpers to don pants, one helper to assist to stand and one to pull pants up over buttocks.

Substantial/Maximum Assistance

Helper provides more than half the effort.

Example: The patient requires assistance to thread a pullover shirt through both arms and pull down over trunk but is able to pull over their head.

Partial/Moderate Assistance

Helper provides less than half of the effort

Example: While bathing, patient is able to wash BUE, chest, stomach, buttocks and peri area but needs assistance to wash feet.

Supervision or Touching Assistance

Helper provides touching/steadying asisstance and/or verbal cues.

Example: Patient is able to use sock aid to don socks, but needs verbal cues for technique and sequence.

Setup or Cleanup Assistance

Helper sets or cleans up before or after activity

Example: Before bathing, helper sets up tub bench and towels for patient.

Independent

Patient is able to complete activity with no assistance from helper

Example: patient is able to retrieve grooming supplies and perform oral hygiene with no assistance needed.
