Stalin was beaten by his father often as a child. This was likely a driving point of Stalin's desire for power because he did not like others in power over him. The pain from the memories may have even been part of the desire to have as many people as he did killed.

Stalin becomes a follower of Vladimir Lenin's ideology. Under the leadershp of Lenin, Stalin gained more roles in the government giving him more power. By the time Lenin died, Stalin had all the power he needed to become the next ruler of the Soviet Union.

Hitler invades the Sovet Union bringing them into WWII. Stalin joined forces with the Allies in order to defeat the German forces. The Allies, including the Soviet Union, would later be able to defeat Germany and the Soviet Union would gain Eastern Europe after the war expanding their empire.

The young revolutionary went around the Cacusus gaining followers for the Bolshevik political group and earning more recognition from Lenin. In the next years, Lenin would start trusting Stalin with more giving him more power. In just a matter of 20 years this power would grow into a dictatorship of the largest country on earth.

After Lenin died, Stalin joins forces with Gregory Zinoviev and Lev Kamenev to form the "triumvirate" so they could defeat Leon Trotsky in control of the government. By doing this Stalin defeated his main competition and could take over Zinoviev and Kamenev much easier for power over the government. Through this they could exile Trotsky from Russia in 1929 and kill him in 1936.

After the Russian Revolution the Congress of Soviets met and elected Lenin as the chairman and Stalin the Minister of Natioalites as well as others in other positions. This was Stalin's first large amunt of power in route to being the dictator of the Soviet Union. In this new postion Stalin was in charge of all non-Russian people in the Russian Empire. All of these people added up to nearly half of the Russian Empire population.

Joseph Stalin died after being in a coma for several days. His death was a blow to the USSR nation, but it was the reason many people lived for the fact that he was plannin anther purge.

Stalin arrested and after spending 18 months in prison sentenced to Siberia, but escaped just under 2 years later on January 5, 1904. The 26 year old revolutionary was fueled by this his arrest to defeat the Czar government. He refused to let them beat him though and he would rule all of Russia.

Stalin ordered his first large terroristic act of killings becuase there was an attempted assassination of his leader Vladimir Lenin. This was one of the first large acts of power from the soon to be dictator. Joseph Stalin would conduct many more purges like this for other political pushbacks.

Stalin was expelled from Tiflis Theological Seminary of the Russian Orthodox Church for spreading his views on Marxism. This was the first time that Stalin would be sharing his views of government with oters. With his views he would help create the first communist government with Vladimir Lenin.

In the beginning of April, Valdimir Lenin made a speech accusig all of the Bolsheviks that were supporting Provisional Government when they should be preparing for a revolution. Stalin, as a editor of the Pravada, had the opportunity to support Lenin or challenge him for leaership of the party. This ultamitely could have allowed Stalin to take over power of the government after Lenin died.

Russia and Germany sign a peace treaty that agreed to stay neutral if either went to war. Stalin was trying to keep a hold on power because he feared Hitler and his strength. Through this Stalin was also protecting the people because he knew that they did not have a strong army and he needed time to build it up if they went to war.

Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili, or more widely known as Joseph Stalin, is born to Vissarion Djugashvilli, a bootmaker, and his mother, who took in washing in Gori, Georgia. Being born to peasants under the Czar's Empire helped Stalin desire something he couldn't have as a child: control. This lack of control/ power would fuel him later in his life to achieve in his adult life.
