Grand Reopening of the Globe Theatre

The theaters were closed several times due to the severity of the bubonic plague, the Globe was closed in 1603 and reopend in April of 1604.

Come forth for the grand reopening of the Globe theatre. The theater will finally be open in April after a long time being closed due to Plague. It is advised to not attend if you are feeling ill. The grand opening of the Globe will begin with a performance of the well adored play, Hamlet by William Shakespeare.

There were many "cures" for the plague, but the only real successful ways to avoid it was to move away from the rat-infested cities (something only the rich could afford to do )

Shakespeare's newest tragedy, Othello will be performed for the first time at the Globe in April. Othello will be performed by The King's Men, recently renamed from The Lord Chamberlain's Men. The play will include a tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth, who was a dear fan of the theat'r and Shakespeare's work.

Ira Aldridge's performances resulted in a lot of racist backlash from the press.

Because of his influence from the pamphlet, James I has authorized a Thomas Sackville, the 1st Earl of Dorset, to levy a new tax on tobacco. The tax is six shillings and eight pence per pound of tobacco imported. This new tax and tariff is effective immediately.
