Extra tip

= dollar

To orally express a sum of money, we first say the whole number, followed by the name of the currency. If there are decimals, we read them after the point as a whole number and, if the currency they refer to has a name, we add it (for example, in dollars we would say "cents" after the decimal).

$43.25 : forty-three dollars and twenty-five cents

For example :

$2. 50 : Two dollars and fifty cents

$10.95: ten dollars and ninety five cents

$99.05: ninety nine dollars and five cents
