This is the first scene that we see John Wayne in a wide shot. He seems like a chill, relaxed and a confident person. There is a lot more personality shown in the scene as he is in his own clothes and not playing a role. The interviewers ask him “ if you are selected for this experiment would you want to be a prisoner or a guard” he replies with “ a prisoner because no-one likes the guard”. This shows that he wants to be liked and make friends rather than enemies.

This shot is a close up of John Wayne looking in the mirror, at himself. He’s looking at himself wearing his guard uniform and his hand on the belt, also wearing shades. When he’s looking at the mirror he’s saying “Now I can be a nice guy, or I can be one real son of a bitch… It’s all up to you’, ‘Smoking is a privilege 5074… One you’re gonna have to earn… I don’t want any more talking”. John Wayne is getting into his role which tends to look negative.

This is a close up shot of prisoner 5704 asking one of the guards for a smoke, then John Wayne suddenly grabbed the cigarette away from his mouth. As he says “Smoking is a privilege 5704, one you’re gonna have fun” this shows that John Wayne playing his role as a powerful guard that showing an authority.

This shot shows how the attitude between both prisoners and guards had started changing and how the behavior of both sides started to turn out how an actual prisoner and guards behavior would be.

In this close up shot John Wayne is forcing an prisoner to do something where the prisoner doesn't want to, John says “‘Walk over like Frankenstein and say you love 2093… You better get a whole lot closer than that…”.

In last scene of John Wayne this over the shoulder shots shows now uncomfortable he is. This is because now that they are on the same level he doesn't know how to justify himself. This is after the experiment when the prisoner meet the guards. He seems less confident and conformable because the power that he had before is taken off. John Wayne is in his normal cloths not in the special guards clothes which given him power
