Conflict is part of the narrative arc and does much to connect readers to a story or a story's characters. It involves problems or obstacles that arise within a story-both internal and external

Why is there conflict?

Conflict is a normal yet very important part of a story. a conflict is a situation wherein a battle or a fight between the characters arise, thus conflict is a very important happening in a story.

A internal conflict is the struggle occurring within a character's mind. Things such as the character views for, but can't quite reach.

An external conflict is a problem, antagonism, or struggle that takes place between a character and an outside force.

Fun Fact: According to Aristotle, in order to hold the interest, the hero must have a single conflict.

Man vs Man

-commonly seen in literature and modern storytelling and is a type of external conflict. This conflict will most often play out between a protagonist and his or her antagonist, although it can also appear between friends or acquaintances, as well.

Man vs Society

This type of conflict is often seen in Science Fiction and is an external conflict that involves a protagonist at odds with a ruling body, or social or cultural norms.

Man vs Nature

-an external struggle positioning the character against an animal or a force of nature, such as a storm or tornado or snow.

Man vs Technology

-is when a protagonist is facing machines or technology (such as mechanical failure or robots) and must prevail against it.

Man vs Fate

-is a conflict that occurs when the protagonist finds himself or herself pitted against a vengeful god or powerful supernatural force.
