  • Abu Zayd Al-Balkhi Originally known as Ahmed Ibn Sahl Al Balkhi was first to address health between body, mind, and soul
  • Al Balki was born in Shamisitiyan (Persia) in 849 CE
  • Al-Balkhi would have spoken the Persian language of Farsi most similar to modern day Dari (Afghan)
  • Practiced Islam
  • Died in 934 CE

  • He was the founder of the Balkhi School of terrestrial mapping of Baghdad
  • Made connections between his religious texts as well as symptoms he viewed in people
  • He was a disciple of Al-Kindi, who was regarded as the "first outstanding Islamic Philosopher." he was also known as "the philosopher of the arabs.
  • Outside of having interests in psychology he also practiced geography, mathematics medicine and neuroscience
