Creating Homes

We can not expect Reno t0 be a healthy, safe, and productive environment, if we neglect such a large population such as the homeless one.
The task at hand is to help a section of the population that is often ignored, the homeless, by helping them get jobs and find a stable home.
1. Raise Public Awareness
2. Pitch our idea to stakeholders
3. Secure Funding
4. Advertise Housing & job fair plan
5. Host Job Fairs
6. Start Housing Plans
We will put our plan into action by getting into contact with many different people, and hosting a job fair and temporarily lowering renting rates.
This would be a slow process if it were to be implemented into reality and would likely need cooperation between everyone in the city. In addition to this we would also likely need to increase minimum wage to help with the high cost of living in Reno. We would also need a plan for many mental illnesses that a select number of homeless people face everyday. We learned about the hard truths of being homeless and how hard it is to escape this institution.
Local Issue
Reno faces highest rates of homelessness since 2010.
We need to address this issue by proposing a logical plan to help combat homelessness in Reno
We are hosting a job fair in cooperation with businesses and city government. We recognize that this is not the only issue and also hope to get these people a lower rent rate for a short time.
Homelessness is a blight upon Reno, it is rampant and must be addressed.
Reno is our local city near and dear to our hearts, but how can we be proud of it when it doesn't care for such a large population like our homeless one.
Our first step is to raise public awareness. This is very important in Reno because it is hard to get people to take action on this issue.
We need to pitch our ideas to all of the stakeholders involved in this issue and our solution.
What property owners need to do
It is imperative to our plan that businesses get involved because a job is necessary in order to have a permanent home.
Businesses will help our project by participating in our job fair. They will commit to hiring two people over the entire event, and be encouraged to hire more.
We need to find out if our target demographic, the homeless, for the issue would think our plan would work, and whether or not they would participate.
What is required from the city government
(If Possible)
At this point in time it will be necessary to secure funding for our project.
The city will need to provide a large sum of money and financial support for our project. These are our local officials that would support it,
In addition to city government funds we will do public fundraisers through
In order for people to participate, we need to make flyers, and use word of mouth communication.
Now we plan on hosting the job fair, the job fair will be in cooperation with the local businesses that agreed to hire two people. The event will be held at the convention center.
After a person is hired we will get them a place to stay at an apartment, and we will need to put a stop to rent escalations which is a major problem according to Ward 1 of Reno Jenny Brekhus.
It should be clear why our plan is both necessary and effective, as many people struggle with keeping up with rent, not just finding a job.

Reno's current plan focuses on making sure that people have a roof over their head but they do very little to address the issue in long terms.
