Sprite

By Hope Kunesh

History

Sprite was first made in West Germany in 1959 as Fanta Klare Zitrone, which translates to "Clear Lemon Fanta" and is known in the U.S under the current brand name Sprite, which was introduced by the Coca-Cola Company more than 60 years ago.

Why is the name Sprite?

For many years the name Sprite has been associated with the Coca-Cola company. During the 1940's Sprite Boy made multiple appearances in Coca-Cola advertisements. In 1958 Sprite Boy was no longer an advertiser for Coca-Cola. Sprite Boy was reintroduced in the United States when the drink Sprite arrived, and it has since become one of the most famous brand names in the world.

Geography

Famous bottle design

Sprite's packaging and marketing have consistently focused on the color green since the beginning of Sprite.    Sprite has always had its own unique bottle decoration, similar to Coca-Cola's  iconic bottle shape,  Sprite's dimpled bottle has been around for the most of its existence. The dimples indicate the fizzy drink's bubbles.

“Our Workplace Rights Policy requires that we take responsibility for maintaining a productive workplace in every part of our Company by doing what we can to minimize the risk of accidents, injury and exposure to health hazards for all of our associates and contractors. In addition, we’re working with our Bottling partners to help ensure health and safety risks are minimized for their employees and contract workers.”

How do they make this happen?

What are Bottling parnets?

Bottling parnets offen manufacture, package, merchandise and distribute final branded beverages to their customers and who then sell their products to consumers. Crazy enough that is only some jobs they do.

"To guide us in working to achieve a safe work environment for our associates, KORE defines a rigorous set of operational controls to manage known risks. The controls generally align with top global requirements and consensus standards."

"We also provide safety training to their associates using the training requirements defined in KORE as a global baseline, as well as applicable legal requirements. Training covers new-hire induction and periodic refresher training for all associates. Bottling partners continue to place great importance on the route risk assessments and comprehensive defensive driver training. This ensures our drivers are aware of the identifiable risks they may encounter and understand how to avoid collisions or incidents."
