Everyone familiar with the game Dungeons and Dragons will be familiar with the usual magical division: there are sorcerers (people who are born with the gift of magic), wizards (people who learn how to use and control magic), warloks (people who willingly make pacts with demonic creatures to be able to practice magic), clerics (people who willingly make pacts with divine creatures to be able to practice magic) and druids (people who practice magic trough nature).
These are the typical type of magic users.
But there is a much more burning question, how does one *do* magic?
Just as any other character present in our genetic heritage, magic is passed trough family.
It's a recessive gene which only presents itself when both of the parents have some sort of magical gene (which does not presume you will have magic yourself if paired with a dominant gene).
Now the presence of this gene does not determine "magic" in the vague sense we just discussed, but determines the presence of a specific enzyme, called Anzogene (which is mostly present in the hand area) that produces energy, but one that is different from the typical glucose or ATP present in our body.
That is because it's just pure energy, like the one we find outside of the body, and it is that that constitutes magic.
Magic is the pure and voluntary release of energy from the body that is expressed to a series of otherworldly abilities.
A lot of people that are not born with the innate power of magic can still practice it, all thanks to the stones.
The stones are, well, stones created with magic. They are extremely expensive and singular for every genetic heritage.
What they do is "complete" the lack of Anzogene in the genetic heritage and determine so the active start of production of it. It works A few meters away from the person, and only with them.
But there also are stones that are *not* selective. These are extremely rare and adapt to the genetic material of the person who "wields" them.
There stones are usually gifted by demonic or divine being after one ties themselves to them.
Stones can also not be solely for non-magic users, in fact, they advance the power and reach of magic of people that already use it, implementing the production of Anzogene.
There is a massive stone production, especially in extremely militar countries which rely on magic as their first for of attack.
