how comb jellies move
Comb Jellyfish are carnivores and they eat much smaller organims like microsopic plankton, other jellyfish and various crustaceans.
They eat them by paralyzing their prey first and then inisde their body in their bell shaped body they have an opening which is their mouth.
Comb jellys catch their food by floating in the water and catching what they can with their stingers.
Comb jellies live in the ocean in all areas. They live around the eastern coasts of america. most of there speices like warm tempeture, tropical, or subtropical waters. They live in the deep ocean more than 7,000 meters down.
One of their adaptations is that Comb jellies produce light. they have protiens in some tissues that make a chemical reaction to make blue or green light.
Another adaptation they have is when there is a predetor they sting them to protect themselves.
They reproduce at night and when food is plentiful. Jellyfishes hatch after a day the egg hatches into the laravel comb jelly, then they have two tenticles to capture prey. When it gets bigger it begins to absorb its tenticles and grow out lobes to start catching more prey.
Comb jellyfishes live for less than a month or until 3 years.
Comb jellies can control the water flow around themselves for movement by jet propulsion to catch their prey. They sometimes actively seek their prey or they ambush for it.
Comb jellies protect themsleves by using their bodies to camouflage in the sea. They have transparent bodies so it is very difficult for them to see them.
Comb jellies have many predetors. Some predetors are fish, sea turtles, crustaceans, other jellyfish and sometimes even people eat them.
