History

Tomball High History

1910

Students moved to a new two-story red brick schoolhouse on Cherry Street.

1908

Tomball's first school began in a one room schoolhouse with 15 students.

1937

After being part of the Harris County School Board for almost 30 years, Tomball was granted its own school district.

1935

The school building was torn down and replaced with a newer, larger building to accomodate 5 teachers and over 60 students.

Timeline

Timeline

2011

The district continued to grow and Tomball Memorial High School opened, relieving the overcrowded Tomball High.

1938

The district was growing quickly due to the recent oil boom that brought families to live and work in Tomball. A second campus was needed, and a new red brick high school with a gymnasium and a swimming pool was built on Main Street.

1974

The current Tomball High School opened on Sandy Lane (now Quinn Road). The school was renovated in 2000.

1961

The high school building was destroyed by an electrical fire, which the fire department put out using water from the swimming pool.
