The meaning of nursing

The medical and international council of nursing definition is:

Nursing encompasses autonomous and collaborative care of individuals of all ages, families, groups and communities, sick or well and in all settings. Nursing includes the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and the care of ill, disabled and dying people.

What are the requirements needed to graduate??

Requirements

First, you must have a minimum GPA score of 3.30. But what classes do you need to take in order to have that final minimum requirment for your GPA? You will need to complete a set of required core courses before you can get accepted into the Exploratory Nursing Major or sequence. In the first semester of attendiung GSU, you must have at least a 3.0 GPA and a 3.30 GPA by the end of the 3rd semester.Along the 4 years of college, you will have courses A-H Containg the required classes that you will need for each year. This should give you the required credits you will need which is 123 credits over the four years and 9 semesters you will take.

Required Classes

These are a set of general required classes; when you get your schedule some classes may be accustomed to what you will need in order to graduate:

Area A: ENGL 1101, 1102 ; MATH 1001 or 1111

Area B: Phil 1010, Scom 1000, Pers 2001, 2002 or 2003 (2 courses)

Area C: Humanities (1 course) and Fine Arts (1 course)

Area D1: COMPLETED Sci sequence: Chem 1151K/Chem 1152K preferred

Area D2: MATH 1401

Area E: Hist 2110, Pols 1101, World History and Social Science

Area F: Biol 2110K**, Biol 2120K**(Course cannot be older than five years old), Biol 2300 & 2310 & Nurs 2010

Area G: You have offically started clinical trials and began inisde the nursing program: Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, Conecepts of nursing care, Medical surgical I , etc..

Area H: Nursing and Allied Fields,also a continuation of Area G: IEP seminar , Abnormal psycology, Reasearch Methods, Etc..

We are going to talk about 2 interesting scholarships specifically for the health proffesions.

  • Lettie Pate Whitehead Scholarship

Marshall L. Bowie Scholarship

Marshall L. Bowie Scholarship

  • Two $2000 scholarships are awarded annually to full-time students in Health Professions and the School of Nursing.

  • These awards are open to undergraduate and graduate students. Selection priority is given for academic record, financial need, community service, and school/GSU involvement.

  • Students must submit a personal statement and a letter of recommendation from a faculty member with their application

Lettie Pate Whitehead Scholarship

Lettie Pate Whitehead Scholarship

  • This scholatrship is special specifically because it's only for females.

  • This scholarship is awarded in spring and fall of each year.

  • To complete this scholarship you will have to go directly to the GSU Scholarship web site and only online applications are accepted.

  • Application deadlines for Fall Award are April 15 to May 31. Application deadlines for Spring Award are October 1 to October 31. Students will be announced the deadlines through email.

  • As previously states,the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation Scholarship is for female, undergraduate students enrolled in the professional health programs of nursing, nutrition, and respiratory therapy. However, Pre-nursing, pre-nutrition, or pre-respiratory therapy students are not eligible for the scholarship.
