Who were the beatles?

  • The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960.
  • The band was made up of; John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison.
  • They became widely regarded as the foremost and most influential act of the rock era.

  • They released their first single 'Love Me Do' at the end of 1962 and their first album 'Please Please Me' in 1963.
  • Some other well known songs bgy the Beatles are; "Yellow Submarine", "All you Need is Love" and "Yesterday".
  • The Beatles first number one song was "Please Please Me". The song reached number one on every chart in London except Record Retailer, where it stalled at number two.

Beatlemania!

  • As The Beatles became increasingly popular, "Beatlemania" ensued.
  • Beatlemania was the intense fan frenzy directed towards the the Beatles in the 1960s.
  • The phenomenon began in 1963 and continued past the group's break-up in 1970, despite the band ceasing public performances in 1966.
  • The Beatles were so popular that they were attacked by screaming fans everywhere they went around the world.
