Charles I 1600-1649, came to the throne of England and Scotland in 1625 upon the death of his father James I and was the monarch of the three kingdoms,England,Scotland and Ireland

Charles believed in the Divine Right of Kings, which was the belief that kings had to answer only to God and not to their people.And that led to arguments with his government,the parliaments.

In 1642 the civil war in England began it was between king Charles army and the parliaments,king Charles was the royalist and the round-heads led by Oliver Cromwell were the parliaments. On 1644 the Parliamentarians defeated the royalists (king Charles).
