Learning Cursive

Shelby Lanteinge

The purpose

Purpose

My main objective of this project was to enhance my cursive writing skills and become proficient in teaching others. Ultimately, I want to develop a strong foundation in cursive writing that I can share with others by breaking down the process into manageable steps, demonstrating how to write each letters, and providing feedback to help them improve their writing skills.

Benefits of Cursive Writing

Learning to write in cursive has a few potential benefits, including:

1. Speed: Writing in cursive can be faster than writing in print, as it allows you to write in a more flowing, connected manner.

2. Signature: Cursive writing can also be used to create a unique signature that can be difficult to forge.

3. Brain development: Learning to write in cursive can stimulate different parts of the brain than printing or typing, which may help with cognitive development.

4. Historical documents: Being able to read and write in cursive is important for understanding historical documents, such as letters and journals, which may be written in cursive.

Steps to learning

Step One

Familiarize yourself with the cursive alphabet: Before you start writing in cursive, take some time to study the cursive alphabet. This will help you understand how the letters are formed and how they connect to each other.

Step 1

Step Two

Practice writing each letter: Once you're familiar with the cursive alphabet, start practicing writing each letter. Take your time and focus on making each letter look as neat and uniform as possible.

Step 2

Step Three

Practice connecting letters: Once you're comfortable with writing each letter individually, start practicing connecting letters together. Remember that cursive writing is all about flow, so focus on making the transitions between letters.

Step 3

Step Four

Step 4

Use lined paper: Using lined paper can help you keep your letters uniform in size and spacing. It can also help you keep your writing straight and neat.

Step Five

Step 5

Practice regularly: As with any skill, the more you practice, the better you'll get. Make it a habit to practice your cursive writing every day, even if it's just for a few minutes.

Step Six

Step 6

Get feedback: Show your cursive writing to others and ask for feedback. This can help you identify areas where you need to improve and can give you motivation to keep practicing.

For reading, I not only wanted to learning how to write in cursive I also wanted to learn how to read it. Therefore I read online examples of others cursive writing.

Speaking

Speaking is explaining my live demostration instead of doing it in a video.

Listening

For listening watched video of people explaining the motions and listened to opinions of others of how I can improve.

Listening

Reflection

I acquired the skill of reading and writing cursive text, especially letters. Initially, I faced some difficulties as I did not use traceable sheets, but with the help of visual and auditory aids, I managed to overcome them. However, I believe that using traceable sheets would have made the process easier. On the other hand, I also had some successes, such as an improvement in my signature and the acquisition of a new skill that I can use in the future.
