What do you think is meant by the term

the British invasion?

Not this!

The Beatles & The British Invasion:

It wasn't until the 1960s that British artists began to take over Rock n' Roll scene, which then morphed into the 1960s POP scene.

Bands like The Beatles brought their own unique style to rock n' roll and helped revive its popularity in the USA. This was known as the British Invasion - It also included bands like The Who and The Rolling Stones.

The Beatles' huge popularity and excitement that they inspired became known as Beatlemania.

The Beatles:

The Beatles were a band from Liverpool, the members of the band were John Lennon (rhythm guitar), Paul McCartney (bass guitar), George Harrison (lead guitar), and Ringo Starr (drums).

All four members of the band provided vocals, Lennon and McCartney were the main songwriters.

Their early songs were heavily influenced by Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry.

Their style changed so much over the years that it is impossible to place them in one musical category - they used musical ideas form Blues, Folk, Classical Music and non-Western cultures such as Indian instruments and structures.

The Beatles have had a huge influence on many genres of pop music and musicians since the 1960s.
