Agamemnon

Clytemnestra

Clytemnestra is the daughter Tyndareus and the wife of Agamemnon. During the trojan war she found another lover called Aegisthus and she murdered Agamemnon to avenge the sacrifice of their daughter.

Clytemnestra

Iphigenia

The daughter of Agamemnon and Clytemnestra, she killed a crucial role for the murder in Agamemnon as she was the main cause of it. Agamemnon had angered Artemis and so to help his fleet to Troy he sacrificed his daughter Iphigenia which in turn made it the motive for Clytemnestra to kill him.

Iphigenia

Orestes

The only son from Agamemnon and Clytemnestra. He was exiled to a friend as he needed to avenge his father. After he reaches adulthood he went back to his home and although a very tragic decision he had to kill his mother and her lover, abd he was punished for it until years later where he was forgiven by Athena.

Theme and Conflict

Theme

The theme of this story is that no matter what you do good or bad, there will always be consequences.

This was shown when Agamemnon sacrificed his daughter which lead to his murder from his wife.

Another example was because of Agamemnon's murder, his son had to avenge him so Clytemnestra was sealed.

This again leads to Orestes actions of killing his mother to avenge his father. Of course killing family is the worst thing you can do and Orestes was punished by the Furies.

Conflict

The conflict of this story is how will Orestes avenge his faher if he has to kill his mother. It is the duty of a son to avenge their father if they're are killed for justice, but then he would also be committing one of the most heinous things a person can do which is to kill family. He is stuck between this but in the end he kills his own mother and suffers from the consequences until eventually he is rid of his sin.
