Real-World Logarithims-Heart Activity

Jed Galvin

What is Electrocardiogram?

What are electrocardiograms?

  • Electrocardiograms are a display of someone's heartbeat, it shows the electrical signal from the heart.
  • This test is done to detect irregular heart beats.
  • Willem Einthoven, discovered that this machine could measure the electrical current a heart creates.
  • The output of an ECG is a line that goes up and down monitoring the changes in heart rate.
  • Logarithms relate to these, because ECG's serve as a measure of "Longitudinal" self-similarity of the wave form.
