what is Drought ?

Drought means when a place receives less rain or snow over a period of time, which can last few months or even longer. dry conditions can cause problems such as shortage of water and crop damage.

First drought occurred in 1864 to 1866. But the worst drought occurred in 1982 - 83, Where there was a dust storm in Victoria and in south east Australia where bush fires killed 75 people.

Drought has many effects on the environment. Plants and animals need water to survive and drought can lead them to die. Crops such as fruits and vegetables will stop growing on the ground. Because the ground does not have water and is very dry. Humans are effected to because there is shortage of water.

What To do in a Drought ?

In a drought you should not pour water down the drain, use it to water your indoor plants. Also you should collect rain water and use less water as much as possible. Take short shower and wash only full load of laundry.So you don't die from drought.
