One day Jonas was riding his bike and the speakers announced that there was a plane coming towards the community so the community had to hide to make sure they were safe . After the community found out it was a pilot in training that came over the community.

Jonas was excited and scared for his first day of training , but was ready to. Jonas went to the place where he is training called the annex room and meet the Giver.

On the first day of Jonas training he got to receive a memory from the Giver. It was the memory of snow.

Seeing Colours
Jonas has had three weird experiences that he can't explain. First the apple the changing when he threw it in the air, Fiona hair, and the community changing when he got selected. The Giver has told Jonas that he is starting to see colour.
Rosemary
During one of Jonas training he asked the Giver about the old receiver. Her name is Rosemary. She is the Giver's daughter. When Rosemary started she was excited but she changed after she got the painful memories from the Giver. Soon later she signed up for release.

Jonas was talking to the Giver about how his dad was doing a twin ceremony and Jonas wanted to see it, so the Giver made someone project it for them. As Jonas was watching he was very fascinated with what was happening , but then he saw his dad put a needle in the baby's head and the child stopped moving. Jonas scared almost moved to tears sat and said nothing probably regreting what release was really.
Escape

After Jonas found out what release was really he stayed with the Giver that night at the annex. Jonas and the Giver decide to make a plan for him to escape during midnight. Jonas asked the Giver if he could go with him , but the Giver said after Jonas left he would go to Rosemary. Jonas after saying goodbye to the Giver went home and got ready for his escape. when Jonas got home he heard his dad say to the family that Gabriel was going to get released in the morning , so Jonas took Gabriel with him and they both escaped together.
Happily Ever After

Jonas took Gabriel with him , and they escaped. the journey was long and hard but neither Jonas or Gabriel gave up. Jonas knew he was getting closer to elsewhere because he could hear music , and he had a happily feeling in his heart that him and Gabriel are going to have a happy life. Finally him and Gabriel make it to the top of the hill and at the top there was a sled so Jonas knew that the people where waiting for them. Jonas went down the hill with Gabriel and knew that they would be happy.
