Cause

Due to a random genetic error, females with this condition have three X chromosomes.

On the Cellular Level

  • Taller than average height
  • Delayed speech and language development
  • Learning disability
  • Weak muscle tone
  • Problems with motor skills
  • Behavior and emotional problems

The organism is given an extra X chromosome

Phenotypes

Phenotype

  • Vertical folds of skin that cover the inner corners of the eyes (epicanthal folds)

  • Widely spaced eyes

  • Curved pinky fingers

  • Flat feet

  • Breastbone with an inward bowed shape
  • Weak muscle tone (hypotonia)

Inheritance Pattern

  • Sex-linked
  • Recessive
  • 1:1000 females get the disorder
  • No Punet Square in the way that the disorder in random

Any female in the world can get Triple- X Syndrome.

Treatments

The chromosome error that causes triple X syndrome can't be repaired, so the syndrome itself has no cure. Treatment is based on symptoms and needs.

  • Periodic Screenings
  • Early intervention services
  • Educational assistance
  • Supportive environment and counseling
  • Assistance and support in daily functioning

What does the Future hold?

Unfortunatly, there is no cure for Triple X Syndrome and scientist have considered the chromosome mutation to be uncurable.

Whats to come?

Although, I believe that eventually we will find a way to fix the mutation before birth.
