- The leaders have limited powers

- A body whose main function is the protection of people and their property

1787 - The United States is ran under a The Constitution, in which the US requires an election of legislators by the people

1215 - The document limited the reach of the English king's power by giving the country's nobility rights that they could exercise over the throne

1791 - These rights further limit the federal government by forbidding intervention on matters of individual choice such as speech or religion
