Operation Bagration:Russia

Operation Bagration was a Soviet offensive launched in the spring of 1944.The offensives goal was to push the axis forces out of russia and eventually pushed into poland.This would later be the start of the "Iron Curtain".This would be the Soviet equivalent to Operation Barbarossa,the german attempt to push into Soviet Russia.The offensive ended in August.

After pushing the germans out of Russia the government began to push into Poland,returning to the way it was during WW1.Russia had one half and Germany had the other,but this time they were fighting each other.

The main goal of Operation Bagration was to push the Nazi's out of Russia.Stalin never planned to push back into Poland.After pushing the german's back to Germany,he took back Poland and later formed the Iron Curtain.

The end result of the operation was a Soviet victory.Russia was free of German occupation and was pushed back into Germany and into the Allied trap.Overall,11 battles were fought and 539,480 casualties were suffered.The operation went from June 22 to August 19 of 1944.This would be the greatest russian victory in numbers in history.
